Top 10 Things

10. (na) CHILDREN - There were children at a New Year’s Day gathering I was at yesterday. It made me glad to only father puppy dogs and invisible animals.

9. (3) MY HEALTH - I’m not dead, but I’m still feeling pretty blecky. I mentioned to Tracy that if employed, I would have tried to leave work early.

8. (na) BOSTON SHAKER - This is what Alton Brown recommends for mixing drinks. I am seriously considering using Christmas money on one. Perhaps after employment rolls back around.

7. (na) PACKING - I’ve put a drop in the ocean today, but it still feels good getting rolling.

6. (4) UNNAMED CHURCH PROJECT - I feel like I’m back on track with this now.

5. (na) BOISE STATE - Oh, man. Because of Tracy, I’m a big Sooner fan, but you have got to be a lot bigger fan than I am not to appreciate last night’s win after a great battle. Great battles come in many forms. Often they are in defensive struggles that are boring to watch. This is another form, with statue-of-liberty plays for 2-point conversions to win in overtime. It’s the sort of game network executives wish they would have known about so that they could have put it on pay-per-view.

4. (na) BEST FRIEND - I have an odd (or perhaps its only male) relationship with the guy I think of as my best friend. It’s not uncommon for us to go months without speaking. I heard at the party yesterday that he has some stuff going on in his life. I should call him. When I do, we will probably talk about it for 20 seconds, then make a date to go to the boats.

3. (8) MY LACK OF A JOB - The resume machine has been busy today, but the phone has not.

2. (na) 2007 - I keep forgetting that it is. Not like "I keep writing 2006 on my checks," but like "That can wait until after the holidays – oh."

1. (na) TRACY’S ABSENCE - She’s back in small college town this week. My Mom and Dad are having their floors redone, so she’s actually in small college town rather than University Town, staying in the alumni house. Unfortunately small college town is not very good with our cell phone provider.
